Junior Coaching – How are we progressing juniors?

Here at Peter Field Golf, we are all passionate about growing and progressing golf in our region. Over the years we have developed our coaching brand “Par Academy”. This is the umbrella for our coaching services outside of 1-1 sessions.

Under PAR Academy, we have every age and level of golfer covered with our designed pyramid programme. From young golfers who have never hit golf balls before, to experienced teenagers looking to take their skill to the next level.

We have developed our very own Performance Pathway. We want to provide and establish a designated pathway for junior golf. At the bottom is our weekend junior classes, in which we provide a fun, foundation level of coaching to young people. Our coaching team then select promising juniors who are showing not just talent, but a keen enthusiasm for the game of golf to progress into our junior academies. With a passion and drive for golf, students can then also apply to our PAR College programme.

What we believe in:

  • To inspire the next generation of young people to love the game of golf
  • Being positive role models for young people
  • Develop life skills
  • Mix technical (technique, positions) and skill based (targets, games) practice

How did we design this performance pathway?

The performance pathway has been built with underpinning research and our coaches vast experiences, both intertwined into a designed programme to help every level of golfer.

Peter’s experience in golf coaching is outrivalled in our region, helping a wide range of golfers for over 30 years. Peter has run programmes for juniors across this extensive period, even picking up a prestigious award from England Golf’s “Golf Roots” programme for his commitment and knowledge to junior programmes.

Rob has been alongside Peter for over 10 years and has had a strong focus on progressing the junior programmes. He has overseen many junior players progress into the county ranks and further. His game approach to junior coaching adds an element of fun competition, whilst teaching key fundamental aspects of the game.

Although Lewis has a strong focus on biomechanics, his previous background was secondary school teaching and sport coaching, holding an array of junior coaching badges from volleyball to indoor football! Lewis has worked with various academy sports before joining our coaching team, working with the counties top football, tennis and rugby players. This has really helped our pathway programme continue past participation levels, helping aspiring young golfers reach the next level of golf performance.

Sonny is one of the newest members to our junior coaching team, but brings a fresh, new and energetic level to our junior programme. Sonny is currently going through his PGA programme and has already completed modules in youth coaching, safeguarding and golf performance. His attitude to junior coaching helps promote golf to all ages and levels, kickstarting a love for the game.

Using all our teams’ experiences, along with current research in junior golf coaching, has helped us deliver a successful pathway for every young golfer in the region.
