Whether it\u2019s club golfers or tour players I\u2019m always peering into people\u2019s bags or reading about what they\u2019re playing, it\u2019s just one of those endlessly entertaining things. So, to that end I\u2019ll be talking to the staff here at Peter Field Golf Shop about what they use and why. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">First up, me! (Jim) This year my bag has had a much-needed overhaul, so it\u2019s been great fun assembling my set up:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Driver:<\/strong><\/span> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Titleist TSi3 10* Hzrdus Smoke Black RDX 6.0 60g shaft<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><strong>3 wood:<\/strong><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Titleist TSi2 15*\u00a0 Hzrdus Smoke Black RDX 6.0 70g shaft<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For my woods I\u2019ve gone for the Titleist range this year, ball speed wise I haven\u2019t found anything to surpass them. While going for the slightly smaller head in the TSi3 driver I\u2019ve gone for the larger headed fairway wood, as a confidence club and one I fall back on when hitting shots on tight fairways that extra little bit of size just gives me that bit more confidence. It also makes it a touch easier to hit off the deck if I ever decide to, however for me it\u2019s mainly a tee club, hence the matched shafts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hybrid:<\/strong><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Ping G425 19* Tensei Orange stiff 80g shaft<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This was a tough one for me, for years I\u2019d used my beloved G hybrid and was hard pressed to part with it, however this year\u2019s G425 was so easy to use and powerful that I had to put it in the bag. The shaft is nice and stable and follows on weight wise nicely from my woods. A great club off the deck and off the tee<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Irons: <\/strong><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Taylormade P770 4-pw KBS Tour stiff 120g shaft<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Now these have been my favourite addition to my bag this year. The smaller cousin of the P790s, the P770s feel powerful yet not uncontrollable and give me awesome launch and spin conditions even on ropey strikes. I\u2019m playing the KBS Tour in stiff with feels nice and stable yet doesn\u2019t stifle my spin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wedges:<\/strong><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Titleist Vokey SM6 52* (8 F) SM8 56* (12 D) &amp; 60* (8 M) All wedge flex shafts<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I\u2019ve always loved the feel of Vokeys and it will take something special to pull me away from them. My wedge set up has consistent 4-degree gaps between them meaning my yardages are consistent and the different bounce and grind options open up loads of different shots in different scenarios. My higher bounce 56* is great out of thicker lies and fluffy bunkers and the D grind allows me to still open it up. In contrast my lower bounce 60* is great off of tighter lies and greenside bunkers where I really need to get the ball up and down quickly, with the M grind allowing me to open up the face and deliver loads of loft.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Putter:<\/strong><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Ping Sigma G Anser Platinum 34\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This putter feels great. The solid feeling that I get off of the face is still somewhat softened up by the insert so it doesn\u2019t feel jumpy, but definitely feels powerful for a blade and the classic Anser look is great to look down on.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grips: <\/strong><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Golf Pride MCC +4 w\/ 2 extra layers<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The +4 grips are a bit thicker in the right hand so give loads of control over the clubs due to there being more surface area of your hands on the club, they\u2019re great in wet weather and look sharp!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Balls: <\/strong><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Titleist ProV1<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As someone who had use the Srixon Z Star XV for a long time when I recently switched to ProV1s it felt a bit like cheating, but I\u2019m getting on well with the slightly harder feel, even though the XV\u2019s are the harder option from Srixon I\u2019ve always found them to still feel quite soft, so in the winter months the ProV1\u2019s different feel has been welcome.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bag: <\/strong><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Titleist Players 4 stand<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And finally, the bag itself!
